Rúben Dias is obsessed with type in all its forms, materialities and immaterialities. He is an avid collector of type; in his spare time you can find him digging up old shop signs and neon letters, or browsing second-hand bookshops for any book on type or typography. Over the years, Rúben has built his own letterpress studio, where he prints and experiments with both metal and wood type. Currently, he is also working on his PhD, a research about the Portuguese Royal Printing House. Rúben is a teacher and lecturer, and enjoys holding workshops on type and typography all across Portugal. Finally, he has his own design studio called “Item Zero”, where type is always at the center of attention.
